Photography tour Ladakh 2012 Korzok Gustor  |  Ladakh photography holidays

High in the Himalayan mountains, a photographer’s paradise.

Very few places on earth offer the rich visual feasts and contrasts of India's Ladakh region. The clarity of the mountain air, the awe-inspiring landscapes created by the two tallest mountain ranges on the planet, the starkness of its high-altitude deserts, the teeming wildlife of its salt lakes, the warmth of the Ladakhi people and the rich colours and textures of a thriving Buddhist tradition… this is a heady mix of visuals, producing photographs that will astonish even the most well-travelled photographer.

Ladakh can be what you want it to be. It’s a landscape photographer’s dream come true; a documentary shooter’s opportunity to capture life in high places and the stories in UV-tanned faces; a chance to pursue haunting wildlife themes and surreal desert-dune scenes; or, best of all, a platform from which to explore and be all of these things in the space of 14 unforgettable days.

Our award-winning Indian Shoot Director on this tour is a Ladakh veteran, an ethnographer and photojournalist who has walked, motorbiked and photographed the region for a decade and a half. He's crafted a busy and eventful itinerary, drawing upon a rich network of local friends and contacts (including senior monks) to give you shot opportunities unavailable to the ordinary visitor. A highlight of our Ladakh photography tour in 2012 is the vibrant and photogenic Buddhist festival of Korzok Gustor: you'll be deeply moved by what you'll see, and just blown away by the stunning photo opportunities we'll put before you.

Although Ladakh’s mountainscapes are a trekker’s heaven, we’ve designed this very much as an accessible and fun photo holiday for those who simply want to experience and shoot the stunning visuals of the region rather than scale its daunting heights.

Next up, the Ladakh photo tour highlights.
